Why Learning Results?
"We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself." Lloyd Alexander, Author
We believe that learning is, essentially, about change - a change of state from the unskilled to the competent; the ignorant to the knowledgeable; the innocent to the experienced; and the 'rookie' to the expert. This change in states is a journey that is different for each individual - a fluid process that either takes its own course, or needs to be guided. In this way, learning can be both random and unexpected, or it can be deliberate and planned.
"Learning is pleasurable but doing is the height of enjoyment." Novali, Poet
Regardless of the course this journey takes, the results (or outcomes) of learning can only become meaningful when certain conditions are present. Above all, successful learning in the workplace requires a motivational commitment – from the individual, their manager, and the organisation. Each of these parties must...
- see the learning journey as worthwhile, and the potential results as beneficial.
- be clear on the results that should be expected from learning, and review the outcomes against expectations.
- be able to see (and feel) a change, and how this change has affected performance and results.
- sustain the impact of learning by seeking opportunities for a transference of learning to take place.
- celebrate the accomplishment of successful results through learning, through feedback and recognition.
- commit to continuously improving performance through learning.
Learning Results provide practical and innovative solutions that enable each of these conditions to be met successfully. Every solution, whether it is an 'off-the-peg' training session, a 'made-to-measure' development programme, or a series of intimate coaching sessions, is carefully designed, planned and delivered with both the customer's and learner's needs in mind.
